Something Different

Well, Texas has violent mood swings when it comes to spring weather.  Tuesday night was supposed to be very rough for us with 70-80mph wind gusts, thunderstorms, tornadoes, and volleyball size hail (not really, just grapefruit sized--just putting on my weatherman "airs" there).  I don't usually panic over storms as I've lived in Texas all my life and am used to the "if you don't like the weather in Texas, just wait a minute" mentality, but this one had me a little freaked out because of the upgrades on the hour and how sure the weather stations were saying it was going to hit.  Eric came home from work early, we played Tetris in the garage for a couple hours in order to get both our cars in (not just my new car!), and my 'Fetti Fans class that night was cancelled due to the impending tempestuous weather surely heading our way.  Even Audrie was secretly placing her favorite toys in the closet in case we had to hunker down in there for the night.  Your welcome, North Texas.  Because we did all that, the cap didn't hold and it all fell apart and blew over, just leaving us with a heavy rainshower and a few electricity flickers.  The next time all the warnings come (which could be this Friday and Saturday they are predicting), I will certainly do the same thing.  Prayers were answered that night that the storm didn't hit, but who knows when we won't be so blessed?
Anyway, tonight I am teaching the class that got postponed and thought I'd share one of the fun cards we will be making.

It's a "double gate-fold" card (measurements found in the resources section on, but with my own little twist on it.  I added the cute removable band that keeps it closed and decorated it with some fun stuff from REVERSE CONFETTI.

I first created the actual card part and then just used a strip of paper and measured how long I'd need it to be in order to wrap around the card and still be able to slide off.  I stamped the strip using the WHOLE LOTTA DOTS stamp set and further embellished it with the new EDGE ESSENTIALS Confetti Cuts, adding the little holes along the edges.  I cut the circle and pinked circle from the FLOWERS FOR MOM Confetti Cuts and then stamped the cute koalas from the new BEAR HUGS stamp set and colored them in with some watercolor pencils, attached it to the band and glued on the fun twine bow.  The girls in my morning class on Tuesday loved it, and I hope these girls tonight enjoy making it as well!
