Well, today is the last day of our Crazy for Christmas online event from REVERSE CONFETTI. If you are just now hearing about it (I hope not!), I would totally encourage you to visit the last two day's posts for some gorgeous inspiration and fun holiday ideas for the holidays from several of our Confetti Crew members. Today we are focusing on the "Memory Keeping" part of Christmas to round out our showcase! At the end of this post, I'll have a link list that you can use to see all the designer's projects.
My original "vision" for this project was to only use one size of tag and keep it super clean and simple. However, when i started pulling out my Confetti Cuts tag dies, they all seemed to layer nicely and I knew they would be cool together using the graduated sizes.
So here's the tag Confetti Cuts dies I used for my "pages"--TAG ME (both sizes), SQUARE TAG, THANKS TAG, TAG ME TOO, and then the new GIFT CARD HOLDER TAG which I made two of so that the book would stand up. I think there's only two other tags in the Reverse Confetti arsenal that I didn't use, but you totally could.
I started by cutting each tag shape from thin chipboard. Then cut them again two times each from coordinating Christmas papers (I had just gotten the new Lori Whitlock "Story of Christmas" 6x6 pad and couldn't wait to cut into it!), and adhered them to each side of my chipboard tags.
The next step was to decorate, so I just started cutting several embellishments from solid colored cardstocks and papers using various Confetti Cuts for those and several rectangle and square dies that come with several of the tag dies.
These included the LAYERED SNOWFLAKE, WREATHS, LOVE NOTE (hearts), SHAKERS 'N FRAMES, WINTER WORDS, DOUBLE EDGE SCALLOP BORDER, HOLLY, CIRCLES 'N SCALLOPS, and BRANCH OUT Confetti Cuts. You could easily use whatever you have, or pare down to just a couple and stick with a more consistent theme.
After I got a feel for where I wanted everything to go (yes, fronts and backs of each tag are decorated), I stamped a few things with the new ALPHABETICAL stamp set, along with using the new WITH LOVE and the older TINSEL 'N TRIM (still one of my favorite Christmas sets!).
I went a little crazy and "gilded" all the edges with some Tim Holtz gold paint dauber, and added the big flaky glitter and some of my red bling from Thailand as well for the finishing touches. I put the tags all together with a binder ring, and added the beautiful ribbons and trims last. I love the vintage-y feel to this little book--not something I get to do everyday, but I totally enjoyed making this (will be on display at The Little Blue House very soon!).
