Happy Halloween

Well, I just couldn't resist making just ONE more Halloween card for this season.  It's one of my favorite holidays to craft for and I'd been itching to use these classic images and dies from VERVE for quite some time!
So Audrie, our youngest daughter is going to be Audrey Hepburn for Halloween this year (she's obsessed with her and she's only 12!).  As I was poking around on Pinterest the other day for last minute hair and makeup how-to's, I came across this older MOJO MONDAY sketch #187.  Gosh, it's from 2011!  It kind of took me back to my "roots" of cardmaking with lots of layers, inking and a "more is more" attitude, so I knew it would be perfect for my Halloween theme.

I grabbed only three things from my VERVE stash:  The MASQUERADE stamp set, the MASK DIE SET, and some BLACK SEAM BINDING RIBBON from the SIGNATURE RIBBON COLLECTION.  That was pretty  much all that would fit on this card!  I started by basically building the card from the bottom up with different patterned papers from Doodlebug Designs.  The orange circle was a bit too plain as a solid, so I stamped it with the cute small star stamp from the MASQUERADE set and created a perfect backdrop for my focal point, not too distracting, but just enough detail.  "Inked and blinged" and it was done!

Ok, I've got to go make a few alterations to Audrie's dress/Audrie Hepburn costume, a perfect black dress with a super blingy collar.  I found it at a garage sale for $3 over the summer.  Gloves--check, Sparkly Blingy hair barrette--check, black shoes--check.  I love the costumes when they're put together from odds and ends!  Can't wait to take pictures tonight!  HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

SUSIE Q-TIP:  I just have to add that in case y'all aren't using the Powder Puff Chalk Inks from Quick Quotes, you should be.  That's what I used here in a color called Coal Miner. Looks purpleish on my card, but it's a really dark gray, so not as harsh as a black.  They come in a squillion colors and really hold up well.  Their shape lets you get into tight spots that need color.  Check them out.
