Shine Brightly

Well, the first week of school went off without a hitch, other than I am still not used to getting up early to take Lindsie school.  I got the girls going to bed early a few days before school started, but forgot to make myself do the same so I'd be used to it!  Oh well, that's where coffee comes in.  The end of the day is what's so crazy busy, though.  Lindsie and Audrie are definitely well "plugged in" at their schools.  Audrie is a member of the Junior Associate Counselor's Team (a leadership program), and the all-district choir for KISD.  Lindsie is in show choir, a select treble choir and just found out she made the ensemble cast for the high school musical, Beauty and the Beast.  These activities make for a tired momma after driving them to all the practices and get-togethers!  Oh yeah, and then to soccer practices!

Anyway, my little shining stars' story complements my newest card creation using some older stamps and dies from VERVE.  The main sentiment from the SHINING STAR stamp set is stamped onto a die cut from the CLASSY LABEL DIE. The stars are cut into all the different sizes from a MUST-HAVE single die called STARRY.  The card is finished off with a sweet white bow using some of Verve's SEAM BINDING RIBBON.  Every time I use it, I'm reminded of my grandmother's sewing machine drawers and all the fancy trims that she used to keep in there!  I love this ribbon!

Ok, well I'm off to take care of some more design work before I have to pick up my star students this afternoon.  Then it's another choir practice for Audrie, to the CHS homecoming parade for Lindsie and then soccer practice.  Good thing I've got dinner already going in the crock pot for tonight--Unstuffed Cabbage Rolls--yummy!!

There's always a GOOD SALE going on at VERVE!!!

SUSIE Q-TIP:  I've started using a new foam mat underneath what I'm stamping.  It's simply a piece of  that fun foam that is found in the kids crafting section at Michael's.  It's black and thicker than the usual fun foam, about 1/4" thick.  It comes in sheets and I just cut it down to about 5 x 4, so it's handy (I got 4 out of one sheet).  Having a cushion to stamp on gives a solid and many times, a more complete image.  Just sayin'.

  1. Great card as always! You always manage to mix colors and patterns very successfully! School starts here tomorrow and soon we will all be back on a schedule again (unfortunatey). That is a great tip about using foam. I think I have some here somewhere .. never even thought of it but will have to check it out.

  2. Beautiful card! Love these terrific layers!
