Lemony Retro Sketch #154

Well, I'm lucky to say (knock on wood) that life hasn't handed us any lemons lately (I'm whispering this, so that the powers that be won't hear me and knock me down).  We are still just so thankful for being able to live in this brand new house, all three of our girls are doing well, Eric's job is going great and he's staying healthy and so is my mom.  And for me, working at The Little Blue House has been nothing short of amazing!  The only complaint I have right now is that I have some major ringing in my left ear and can't hear out of it.  That's been going on for about 2 weeks and I'm seeing the doctor on Monday.  Meanwhile, the upside to that, is that I'm enjoying the quiet--making lemonade from those lemons for sure!

I got to have a little playtime today in between laundry and baking these funfetti sugar cookies, so along with mixing those ingredients, I thought I'd mix up a little REVERSE CONFETTI with the latest sketch from Retro Sketches (#154).

Here's the sketch from RETRO SKETCHES.  It's a cute little quick and easy square card.  I have to admit, I just HAD to add that upper left embellishment.  I don't do well with white space!

To get all my "ingredients" ready, I started by stamping the lemons, sentiment and leaves from the FRESH 'N FRUITY stamp set and die-cutting them with the FRESH 'N FRUITY Confetti Cuts.  I then stamped the striped flag banner from scratch using the SO STRIPEY background set (one of my all-time faves), and just hand-cut it to fit nicely behind my sentiment.  I cut the hearts from the LOVE NOTE Confetti Cuts and the little yellow arrow banner thingy from the DOCUMENTED Confetti Cuts set in order to have all my pieces at hand so that putting the card together would be a snap.

I hope life isn't handing y'all any lemons right now either, but if so, I hope y'all can make the most of it.

SUSIE Q-TIP:  Y'all know I love my layers on my cards.  When I started this one, the yellow mat I had cut at a quarter inch larger than the white.  I just looked too heavy to me.  I trimmed it down to my usual 1/8th inch larger and it just balanced the card out so much better.  Try it for a fresher, more stylish look.

  2. This is a great card as usual! Sorry to hear about your ear. Did you google it? I have to laugh - there are a bunch of reasons listed. One of them says 'drinking excessive amounts of alcohol or caffeinated beverages.' Not kidding!😃
