Finished in a Flash Challenge
Well, happy Friday! It's been a fun week, but it sure has flown by fast for me. I'm pretty sure we've had something on the agenda every night and I'm pretty sure it's looking like more of the same for next week. On Monday night though, I was sure to clear my calendar to take part in our first Little Blue House MEDIA TEAM Challenge. Now, this was a challenge like no other I had done before. Cat and Nat of The LBH Blue Crew hosted it for us with these rules:
1. We only had 30 minutes--hence the title, FINISHED IN A FLASH! (we were allowed to pre-cut titles, etc. with our Silhouette, which I did--XOXO title and hearts)
2. Make a layout (single or double)
3. "Love" theme
4. Use a stamp and/or metal die somewhere in your layout (I used the Double Edge Scallop Border, Heart Love and Straight Stripes Pretty Panels Confetti Cuts from Reverse Confetti, but no stamps even though my picture shows it. I thought I might, but literally ran out of time!)
5. Post it to our Media Team Facebook group to show we were finished.
So we all got stuff out that we were going to use or thought we might use, in order to be ready to start creating promptly at 9, and then time was up at 9:30. YIKES!
I pulled out a bunch of stuff from my stash and found these cute puppy pictures of Sage from a while back and decided my "love" theme would be PUPPY LOVE because she's adorable!
I found it easy to start with my base page and then cut down a larger panel (the text piece) and layer things right on top of that. I love that I had all my little embellishments and smaller parts in a cute metal bucket (that even fit the theme since it was pink!) to make it easy to grab what I needed. I even took them out of their original packaging for this so I could see what I had a lot better, taking a cue from our Scrapbook in a Day Classes at The Little Blue House. Remember, I had to be FAST (and not get too distracted with looking at those cute puppy pics)!
Anyway, I really loved playing along in this challenge and I will definitely be doing it again. It won't always be a layout, but the 30 minute time limit won't change. After the frantic creating, I have to say I'm pretty pleased with how my layout turned out. Not so pleased with how my craft room looked in the aftermath!
Be sure and head over to the MISS TRACY CREATES blog for a look at all the team's creations and links to their blogs for more detailed info on each project. Everyone's layouts were amazing and I encourage y'all to try setting a time limit for your creations occasionally. It really cuts out a lot of hemming and hawing over what to use and where! Just trust yourself, you can do it.
SUSIE Q-TIP: Because I didn't have a lot of time to think and stew over placement of everything on my page, the layered title just "happened" to happen. I think it works! My Silhouette cuts of the XOXO acts as an "anchor" for my Puppy Love Thickers and stickers. And look how cute Sage is.
