You Make Me (so very) Happy

Well, I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas day and are still enjoying the holiday season.  I'm still turning on our Christmas lights outside and I still love the tree all lit up.  We usually take our stuff down right after New Year's.  We had a really great Christmas and celebrated with family here in our new home and even started some new traditions at our get-together.  Eric's on vacation until the 5th, and we plan to do some little projects around here, go to Six Flags a couple more times with our new season passes and also take some time to plain 'ol relax!  I can't wait, because I love it when he's home with me!

It had been quite some time since I took some time to sit down and craft, in fact I think it had been since the beginning of December!  I'm a little rusty!  So I was excited to clean off my desk and jump back into making a card.  I picked up some fun stuff on clearance at The Little Blue House today while I was working (that's the only bad thing about working there--I shop while I work!) for a little inspiration boost!

I pulled out some HAPPY stamp sets from VERVE and checked out THIS sketch 181 from The Deconstructed Sketch blogI have been wanting to use the WONDERFUL MARVELOUS set and thought I was "going for" a birthday card.  Somehow this morphed into just a "warm fuzzy" type of card with the change in sentiment.  I stamped the frame with the "stitched" stamp from the TREASURED WORDS set and used the butterfly from the DIE SIDEKICKS set as an accent and then cut it with the ALL AFLUTTER die that matches *perfectly*!!!  Once I had all that done and sort of laid out, I thought it needed a little more white somewhere, so I cut the little heart scallop border from the SCALLOPED TRIM TRIO die set.  I LOVE that they are so skinny and there's really no need to "underlap" them under a layer.  They can just lay flat against your other panels, making "afterthoughts" look like you meant to do that!

SUSIE Q-TIP:  I have found a sweet little wonder that one of the designers up at The Little Blue House had used on a layout--an 18K GOLD LEAFING PEN!  It's by Krylon and it is basically a chisel tip metallic paint pen, but it is so PRETTY and really looks like gold which is all the rage right now!  You can see where I used it--I went around the edge of my sentiment rectangle and also did a little highlighting on my butterfly so y'all could see it in action.  I highly recommend to suggest it be recommended (and it comes in silver too).

  1. Love your card! I sold those gold leafing pens and still have a couple in my stash, I think! Thanks for the reminder!
