Viva La Verve--An Early Christmas Card

Well, Happy Halloween!  I can't wait to get out with the girls to trick or treat and see all the other little spooks in their costumes.  Audrie is going as a girly Captain America and Lindsie is going to be a girlie Ironman.  Which reminds me, I still need to pick up some gold eye makeup for her!  Anyway, on with why we're really here...

I was able to play along in the newest challenge (starts today, actually!) for VIVA LA VERVE!  The sketch is a super simple one, and now that we have Halloween "almost" out of the way, I'm sure a bunch of y'all are ready to start in on making all of your awesome Christmas cards.

So I used the sketch and came up with this really simple and very duplicatable Christmas card.  I started it off by stamping the wreath from the VERVE set, O CHRISTMAS TREE onto a light kraft cardstock in brown ink.  I was thinking I'd go over the pine needles in green, but I kind of liked it in the brown tones alone, so I left it and only colored the flowers and bow with Prismacolor pencils.  I stamped the greeting from the BRIGHT SPIRITS stamp set, and then highlighted the wreath with gold Stickles, and added the gold twine and sequins.  Easy Peasy and very pretty!

SUSIE Q-TIP:  Take it from me, you want to put your Stickles on LAST and then don't touch your card again until after it dries.  Never try to add twine at the last minute near wet Stickles.  You tend to get it all over your hands and card.  If your lucky (like me), you only smear what came off onto your fingers on the back of said card.  Don't ask me how I know this.  I don't want to talk about it.

Stamps:  O Christmas Tree, Bright Spirits (Verve)
Paper:  White (PTI), Kraft, Red (MFT), Candy Cane Lane (Teresa Collins)
Ink:  Chocolate Chip (SU!), Tuxedo Memento Black
Accessories:  X-acto Knife, Gold Twine, Gold Stickles, Gold Sequins, Prismacolor Pencils, Foam Boosters
Finished Size:  A2
