Let's Party

Well, we partied pretty hard this past weekend.  Along with a large house comes larger parties, I guess.  Saturday night, we celebrated Audrie's 11th birthday with a sleepover consisting of 9 little screaming 10-11 year-olds.  I barely survived.  Then once they all left yesterday, it was time to "reset" for the next party, a Pampered Chef party hosted by my oldest daughter, Shelbie, but at our house.  It was fun, especially getting to meet her boyfriend's mom for the first time!  Don't get me wrong, I love to entertain, but who's big idea was it to host two large parties in the same weekend?  Oh, yeah, that would be me.

Needless to say, Audrie had a blast and it wouldn't have ever been possible to have such a fun and long list of guests had it not been for getting this house.  They played and played, ran all over and I'm glad that this party will be one of the first fun memories she has in our new house.  So this card was made with the party and sweet little Audrie in mind using several of my VERVE stamps.

I don't know why, but when I make a card with cupcakes on it, I can't hold back from using pinks and browns.  It just seems like a natural choice, so this time I didn't "fight the feeling" and just went with that tried and true color scheme.  The cupcake image is from the newer SMALL PACKAGES stamp set which I stamped in brown and colored with my Prismacolor pencils, while the "Happy Birthday" sentiment is from Verve's classic BIG WISH set.  If you want several different birthday greetings, that's the one to get!  I stamped it onto the SCROLL banner and cut it with the matching SCROLL die.  Since I used the latest VIVA LA VERVE sketch, it called for a heart or embellishment to peek out on the side.  I went with the textured looking heart from the MORE THAN LOVE stamp set, yes a Valentine's set!

SUSIE Q-TIP:  Using Prismacolor pencils isn't always about blending them out with odorless mineral spirits (OMS).  I swear that sometimes even though it's odorless, it still can give me a headache.  So since I have just gotten over a migraine, I didn't want to chance it.  I simply blended my colors with the Prismacolor "colorless" blender pencil.  Worked like a dream!  Party on.
