Well, the girls are back in school as of yesterday. I wasn't ready for our summer to be over! We've been so busy with the house and doing all those things you do when you move (installing blinds, shopping, watering the new grass, shopping, unpacking, installing more blinds, paint touching up and shopping), that it seems like they got shortchanged on all the usual summer activities.
Luckily, Lindsie has a soccer tournament going on this weekend in Austin. We are leaving Friday and Eric will come and join us on Saturday, so I can't wait for a little "girls night" with them in our hotel all by ourselves--a last little summer fling!
Anyway, I was sad to miss this month's Diva Inspiration Hop from VERVE, but I just couldn't swing it with having just moved! I've been able to play a little bit in my new craft room, but it's all about to get turned upside down again tomorrow---ELFA INSTALLATION DAY!!! Yes, that will be a happy day, so I thought this card was super appropriate to share today. Above is a little before picture of what it looks like now, boxes and all. My new (to me) farm table will get a fresh coat of dark gray paint and will be my main workspace. I can't wait! Don't worry, there will be after pictures, too.
I started off my card by picking out some fun colors. I just love pink and orange together. I know this was probably a sketch that I found, but I can't for the life of me remember where it came from...pardon moi! The main sentiment is from the BE BLESSED set--so nice and bold! I framed it in pink with the ON OCCASION frame and die cut it with the OCCASION FRAME Die. I added the flowers which I heat embossed in white from the SUNNY DAYS set, stamped the leaves and cut them out with the LEAFY SPRIGS Die. This card came together so quick and easy. I think I'll send it in to Audrie's teacher next week.
Ok, I better be on my way. All those boxes in my new space (the rest is in the garage)? They have to get moved out of the way, so the installers have room to work. When I was at The Container Store the other day and saw how big the "butterfly" bolts are that they use to hold it all on the wall, I have to admit to throwing up in my mouth just a little at the thought of the giant holes they will be putting in my pretty, freshly painted walls. I will definitely have to turn away as they drill those holes!
SUSIE Q-TIP: Every time I see a handmade card that one of my crafty friends' have made by embossing images in white, I really love how they look. My favorite white embossing powder that I've found works awesome is the Recollections brand detail white from Michael's.
