TCP Sneaky Peek Day Five: Vintage Summer

Well, I'm still working hard behind the scenes making cards and gearing up for a new release from THE CAT'S PAJAMAS! I can't wait to show ya'll what I'm working on right now.  It involves my Silhouette, so stay tuned!

Today marks DAY 5 of Sneaky Peek Week and the introduction of the new set, VINTAGE SUMMER.

When I got this set in the mail, I immediately made notes on what I wanted to do and what colors I'd be using for this card, since I wasn't able to craft right away.  Later, I started my card by sponging on yellow, orange, red and brown inks onto a piece of vanilla cardstock, and blended it well, so that each color faded into the next.  Then I just stamped my VINTAGE SUMMER image over that in dark brown and cut it out using my FRAMED UP CutUps die which coordinates with this new stamp set.  As a final touch, I added a "sunflower" I made from the new PETAL POSIES CutUps die set by layering the medium and small flower pieces, and then adding the little vine from the HEART SWIRL CutUps die.  In the end, this card came out pretty darn close to what I had in mind.  Don't y'all LOVE when that happens?  So far, it's my favorite card I've made with this new release, and it was so easy!

Here's everything you need to know about THE CAT'S PAJAMAS New Release:
1. All the new stamps and dies will be released on Tuesday, June 17th.

SUSIE Q-TIP:  It took me two different tries to get this image just so with the sponging, and then when I stamped the image, I didn't feel like my brown ink was dark enough in some places (through no fault of the stamp-I should have put a magazine under my cardstock for a cushion since it was such a large image).  Anyway, to remedy that, I simply took a dark brown Prismacolor pencil and filled in lightly where it needed a bit more color.

  1. GASP! This beyond gorgeous Susan!!! I am totally in love with it. I love this image anyway but you made it even more fabulous by creating that incredible sunset bg!!! I'm glad you saved yourself a third one by filling in the silhouette where you thought it needed it. I'm sure it was gorgeous as it was but it's absolutely stunning and I really can't wait to try try this sunset technique asap!

  2. What ice looking colors...bold, warm and so summery!
