June Verve Diva Inspiration Hop

Well, welcome to Verve's June Diva Inspirations Hop. It's the 5th of the month and that means it's hopping time again! So climb aboard Desination: Inspiration for a fun trip through Verveland today. In addition to a comment prize hidden along the hop, we're debuting our June inspiration challenge as well! Play along for another chance to win!

Our June challenge is Winged Whimsy:
Let your creation soar by featuring wings! Think butterflies, birds, feathers or related sentiments. Celebrate the beauty of flight! Whether you draw inspiration from the graphic or fly a solo mission, let's see some winged beauties!

The hop started over on JULEE'S BLOG and hopefully you've hopped along and arrived here from SONY'S blog.  If not, be sure and start at the beginning so y'all don't miss a thing.  Trust me, you WANT to take it all in!

Yesterday was the awards ceremony/4th grade graduation from elementary school for Audrie (our youngest), so when I sat down to make this card (yes, it was right after that), I was feeling a little melancholy over not having a child in elementary school any more.  Not only that, she'll be going to a different school altogether from any of her current friends next year, since we are moving at the end of this month.  So when I came across this sweet sentiment from the TREASURED WORDS set, I knew it was perfect for how she and I were both feeling.  Makes me teary-eyed even though I know she will do fine at the new school because a bunch of her soccer teammates will be going to that one as well.  I framed the sentiment on the CLASSY LABEL DIE, stamping it in pink with the UNTO US set, then used the new DIE SIDEKICKS set and cut the butterfly with the ALL AFLUTTER die to keep with the challenge.  I hadn't used the Verve Seam Binding Ribbon in a while, and found this pink was the perfect match!  Anyway, I love how this turned out and I plan to write Audrie a little note in it to encourage her to see the "new beginnings" ahead as a blessing.

Ok, don't stop here, move onto my good friend STACEY'S BLOG and see what she's created today!
Need a little inspiration? Check out the blogs linked below to see what the other Divas did with the challenge! It's sure to be a treat, and speaking of treats, we've got a prize for one lucky commenter along the hop! Check out the Verve Blog today for all the prize info and deadlines, and a little bit about our brand new Diva!

SUSIE Q-TIP:  I did something on this card that I rarely do.  I inked a bunch of the pieces' edges in BLACK.  Since that was my primary accent color anyway, it was a good trick to help some of the lighter pieces stand out without having to add extra layers.  Think about it.

We do a clap-out where the whole school lines the hallway and clap as they leave the school {most in tears} for their last time as 5th graders. Tears and hugs are everywhere. Thanks for sharing.
