My Friend, Freida

Well, yesterday I officially worked my first substitute teacher gig.  It was a good day to ease into it gently, as I was offered a job for a half day in a sixth grade classroom.  When I got there, my worst nightmare started to unfold--the teacher had called in sick, so there were no plans left for me to teach from, and it was a MATH class (my worst subject--I mean, I can do it, but it's been a while!).

Luckily, she had sent plans to another teacher and he came to my rescue and told me what I needed to do with the students right before the bell rang.  They were loud and when the teacher got there, she had to apologize to me for their behavior.  It was quite the experience!  Next week--4th grade and kindergarten.  Pray for me!

Anyway, at least I was able to come home yesterday and get into my crafting zone to calm my nerves!  (Gonna need more wine, too...please send some to me.)

I had been wanting to pull out my Copics and do a little coloring, so FREIDA FOX from REVERSE CONFETTI was first on my list of images I wanted to bring to life.  She's just so darn cute!  I wanted to try out Amber's masking technique and stamped her onto the LOVE NOTE scalloped rectangle die.  Then used that set even more and cut out the cute blue heart and the small heart border which I stamped the red swirlies onto from the TINSEL 'N TRIM stamp set.

I added the gray scallop at the bottom from the DOUBLE EDGE SCALLOP BORDER.  It all came together so easily because I had a great sketch--the February SFYTT, and I also used the February COLOR CHALLENGE from Reverse Confetti.  Being how I feel like my mojo is lacking at the moment, those were perfect starting points for this card!  By the way, a NEW Sketch For You To Try is just around the corner (it's already March!?).  Be sure and check the RC BLOG HERE on the 1st to get your very own RC sketch inspiration!

SUSIE Q-TIP:  I'm just going to put a cheap, shameless plug in here today for my wood-grain embossing folder.  I got it at Hobby Lobby.  I love it. 'Nuff said.
