I Love a Good Sketch Challenge

Well, it's true.  I'm a sketch junkie.  Sometimes before starting a card, I hit all my favorite sketch blogs and draw them out to cut out and put in my little (well-loved) sketchbook to use right then or keep for later.  It amazes me as to how many different ways there are to put papers on a little 4.25 x 5.5 card!  I'll have to show y'all my little sketchbook sometime.  I decorated it all up and I've kept one handy for years now!  It's actually falling apart and it's only half full.  :(

This time, I chose to use the latest Viva La Verve sketch (Nov. Wk. 2) along with a couple of older Christmas sets from VERVE.  This sketch was created by Christyne Kane.  Isn't it fabulous!?!  I saw it and KNEW I had to try it on for size!

I came across my ORNAMENTAL CHRISTMAS set and decided that would be perfecto for the circle.  However, it didn't have a larger, longer sentiment stamp, so I grabbed the O CHRISTMAS TREE set and used a couple from it, and then thought how cute it would be to stamp the bow from that set and pop it up on the ornament!  The PENNANT TRIM DIE I think has to be one of my all-time favorite dies I own (btw, it's on sale)!  It's well-loved too, but I doubt it will ever fall apart!

Holiday Sale
Oh, look!  Everything I used on this card from Verve is on sale!  How about that!
And the graphic even matches my card!  (Totally coincidental)

SUSIE Q-TIP:  As a sketch junkie, I have seen a lot of sketches in my day.  I also have altered a lot of them.  This time, I added a couple of green pieces of the Pennant Trim under the sentiment panel and also created a red gap between the blue and dotted pieces.  This is totally ok to do with a sketch (in my opinion).  I give you permission to do it too.

Stamps: Ornamental Christmas, O Christmas Tree (Verve) Paper: Vintage Cream, Pure Poppy (PTI), Gumdrop Green (MFT), Season's Greetings (Echo Park), Joyous (Authentique) Ink: Brilliance Graphite Black (Tsukineko) Accessories: Pennant Trim Die (A Cut Above Dies by Verve), Snowflake Embossing Folder, Green Seam Binding Ribbon (Verve), Adhesive Rhinestones, Jody Boosters
Finished Size:  A2

  1. woohoo, I'm blaming all my rebel sketch cards on you from now on!

  2. Susan, I love your card. You are so right about a good sketch. I rarely do a card, without a sketch. But I don't have a sketchbook ... but I should! Putting that one on a "to make" list! One of the reasons I like this one is that it is a horizontal layout, which you don't find as many of. And the banner trim is my all time favorite too. Thanks for the inspiration ... always! Hugs, Tina

  3. Just fabulous!! Can you believe I don't have a sketchbook?! Yep, now I'm gonna have to get one. ;)
