TCP Tuesday (One Day Late) Sorry!

Well, I'm sorry I haven't posted lately.  I guess we have a little touch of the "furlough blues" around here.  While I enjoy every minute of having Eric here at home with me (I got used to it before, back when he had cancer), the reality of it is setting in that we are going to possibly be a little broke come the 26th (next pay period).  Oh well, we can only do what we can do and it's given us time to get some "honey-do's" done and just in general slow down for a change.  I love walking the dog with him (every night at 7:30--Sage dictates it) and discussing our plans and dreams.  Now to just set some of that into action!  We are motivated!
Since he's been home, however, I've had little time to concentrate on crafting.  I was grateful for this month's TCP Tuesday Challenge from THE CAT'S PAJAMAS--Alma has issued an "anti-embellishment" challenge.  Use as few embellishments as possible, limiting yourself to no more than 2.

So for my card, my embellishments are obviously the sequins.  Yes, there are three of them, but I'm counting them as "1" embellishment.  Shhhhhh, don't tell Alma!  I combined three stamp sets to create this simple holiday card that is pretty flat and perfect for mailing.  The NESTING, JOLLY HOLIDAY, and TREE-MENDOUS, stamp sets make this card fast and easy to create (and recreate), too.  The background piece was made using some of the newest CutUps dies, FRAMED UP and the CHEVRON, a super cool background die that I haven't even started to tap the potential of.  I love the simplicity of this card and the colors!  Must use them again for sure!

Ok, I've got a few things on the agenda today, so I'll be back soon with something new to share.  I'm going to have to put on my cranky pants if I don't get to create more than just a card here and there!  Eric does need to go back to work so I can get back to my routine!

HERE is all you need to know to play along and link up in our challenge to obtain some TCP goodies of your very own!

SUSIE Q-TIP:  Just like using embossing folders to create subtle backgrounds, I'm so excited about the new trend in die cut backgrounds coming to card-making.  Several of these are manufactured as 4x6 (approx.) dies.  This doesn't mean you have to use them in that size and shape.  Once cut, adhere them to an underlying piece of cardstock and cut again using another die of your choice to create cool textured shapes.

Stamps:  Nesting, Jolly Holiday, Tree-mendous (The Cat's Pajamas)
Paper:  White, Smokey Shadow, New Leaf, Spring Rain, Pure Poppy (PTI)
Ink:  Red Hot, Black Licorice (MFT), Bashful Blue (SU!)
Accessories:  Framed Up and Chevron CutUps Dies (The Cat's Pajamas), Copic Markers, Sequins, Foam Boosters
Finished Size:  A2

  1. A great combo of products Susan! Absolutely gorgeous and fun.

  2. I am loving this card! Well balanced -fabulous colors against the black. Very appealing~ TFS

  3. Your color choices are always just perfect and the use of the dies mixed up really is awesome. I have to remember I can cut the die into another shape vs. using it as it is. Thanks for the reminder. Always love your work. Sounds like Eric will be back to work any day now. Being state/federal workers it's ruff.
