Spooky Cuties Mojo/Subway Style
Well, now that I have a little coffee, it's finally time for me to sit down and write this post. (I'm typing extra fast now!) I've had this card made for a while now and just never shared it during my blogging hiatus last week. It's time. I'm slowly but surely starting to really think about Halloween--the costumes, the decorating and all the fun little treats and projects that make my brain constantly explode with ideas (It's hard to be me). I even put my Halloween wreath on my front door yesterday!
SPOOKY CUTIES and SPOOKY SENTIMENTS sets from REVERSE CONFETTI was a no-brainer when I decided to play along in a recent MOJO Monday sketch (MOJO310).
The subway style tag is a conglomeration (I love that word) of 7 different stamp images that I mixed and matched to create the vertical effect. All the black is heat embossed which makes it a bit shiny and a true "black-black" (stampers, ya'll know that term!). And actually, the two polkadot pumpkins at the bottom are from the FOREVER FALL set which is a MUST have. They started out as pumpkins for another project that didn't make the cut! The orange strip on the left didn't look quite right just plain, so I inked up my WHOLE LOTTA DOTS set with orange ink and stamped it to coordinate with the polkadot and tone-on-tone pumpkins at the bottom of the tag, and then I was happy with it! OMG, I just realized I didn't use a single die on this card--that's a FIRST!
I guess this weekend it will be time to send Eric up to the attic to bring down this cool dilapidated dollhouse that I spray painted black and converted to a haunted house a couple of years ago. I can't remember if I showed ya'll or not. I'll take pictures and share soon! It went from being an eyesore that I wanted to throw away to one of my coolest Halloween decorations!
Anyway, here's a look at the stamp sets I used. Be sure and check out the 'Fetti Finds for this week over on the Reverse Confetti blog HERE. They are all amazing! Have you uploaded YOUR CREATION yet?
SUSIE Q-TIP: This sketch was a little--I won't say intimidating because I ain't skeered to try anything--but just an odd one to deal with and I wasn't sure it was going to be feasible to make something with it in my style and have it look balanced. However, this has turned out to be one of my favorite cards ever because I took the sketch quite literally. When you feel out of your comfort zone with a sketch, don't try to do anything elaborate. Just go with what you like, stick to the sketch and simple patterns, and you'll even impress yourself.
