Seize the Viva La Verve

Well, Happy Monday to ya'll!  Ready to start another week?  I can't believe it's the middle of September already.  I saw a little thing on Facebook or Pinterest (can't even remember now) that said, "Well, Labor Day is over, time to for all the stores to get out their Christmas stuff...Happy Hallothanksmas!"  That's about right.  Even Eric says if he ever became president, he would make a law against all the early holiday stuff.  Don't tell him, but I kind of like it!
Anyway, around here in Lilesland, we have a few birthdays that come before all those holidays start to ramp up, so I came up with a little birthday card for someone (can't say who--they might be reading this) using the September Week 2 Viva La Verve Sketch.

It had been quite some time since I played around with this smaller set from VERVE, SEIZE THE CUPCAKE.  I thought with the large-sized sentiment and the cupcake that I could easily use as my embellishment (see star in sketch), that set would fit the sketch and my purpose for making it!  Work smarter, not harder, right?

The stars are from the STARRY DIE which makes a multitude of stars in several sizes all at once.  I just randomly glued them down and then used some gold Stickles on a few of them and the star atop the candle.  I also used the CLASSY LABEL DIE and tucked it in brown up under the main circle panel.  I'm loving that combo--yellow, brown, teal and gold!

Ok, I hope ya'll get a chance to work in some time this week to play along in the VIVA LA VERVE challenge...come on, this one's an easy one!  HERE'S where you want to go to see all the info about it.

SUSIE Q-TIP:  Because the stars were so small, I thought it would be easiest to glue them down and then apply the Stickles.  I was right, but using my metal poker thingy was key in making sure the Stickles didn't go where they weren't welcome (off the stars).  I was able to move the Stickle glue precisely where I wanted it and clean up a few mistakes with that tool as well.
