You're a Rockstar

Well, I've been able to get my craft on here in the last few days, mostly for a couple of new releases coming up (can't wait to show ya'll!), but I did manage to squeeze in a VERVE card in between those commitments.  I LOVE it when that happens as it forces me to mix up my styles a bit and really keeps the mojo flowin'.

This time, I checked out that wicked cool, layer-licious Mojo Monday Sketch #306, turned on some tunes and got down to business.

I wanted to see if I could rock something from the VERVE oldies playlist, so I grabbed my STARSTRUCK set from 2009 and combined it with the WINGS OF LOVE set from 2012.  What a great way to prove how wonderfully well ALL of Verve Stamps coordinate and can be mixed and matched.  The bottom white circle layer was created by using 3 colors of the Heidi Swapp Color Shine and splattering them with the spray nozzle end instead of spraying them.  A very cool technique!  For the red flag layers, I used the BANNER BUNDLE dies and accented them with the FLAG IT dies in some of my favorite silver POW paper from American Crafts.  Of course, if the card mentions "Rockstar", I have to have stars for embellishments, so my STARRY die made a comeback as well.  No one hit wonders here or EVER with VERVE!

SUSIE Q-TIP:  I added some Zazz glitter glue (similar to Stickles brand, but from American Crafts and super sparkly!) to the wings of the heart.  However, I had stamped it first in a regular dye ink (which I LOVE--I'm not trying to diss anyone here) and look what happened!  The ink ran--gross!  I didn't even think about that.  So I re-stamped it in my old stand-by, Brilliance Graphite Black from Tsukineko (a pigment based ink), heat set it, and then re-glitter-glued and had no problems (used it on my card).  Lesson learned.  You may want to just use pigment ink with those Stickles and similar products.  Don't want ya'll to have to start over like me.  Definitely not my best Rockstar moment.
