Enjoy the Little Things With Verve

Well, I had a little time last night after soccer practice and dinner (yes, they are both practicing in this 99 degree heat!) to sit down and play with some of my VERVE goodies, new and old.  I had bought that designer paper from the scrapbook convention specifically for use with my Verve stamps and decided it was a good time to go ahead and cut into it.  (Not a hoarder of craft supplies.  I use them, that way I can get more!)  Unfortunately, I didn't finish my card last night, so I worked on it again today AFTER my pedicure--just enjoying the "little" things, and I LOVE the end result.

I knew it was going to be a busy looking card with the cool patterned papers, so I just kept adding to it until I felt it had a well balanced look, regardless of the busy-ness.  Here's the cool stuff I used from Verve:  From one of the newer sets, LET IT BE, I stamped the sentiment on my oval and then created some pattern with the smaller flower onto the mustard pieces.  I thought the coffee cup would be a sweet embellishment, so I grabbed it from the DELIGHTFUL & DELICIOUS set, and did a little paper piecing and shading with some gray Copic markers.  The oval frame from the KINDRED SPIRITS set looks great around the sentiment as it mimics the patterned paper.  Cha-ching!  A few Verve dies made their way onto my card as well:  I love the little pink tab I created at the top of the flag panel with the FLAG IT DIE SET.  In my "more is more" mindset, I needed to add the pink little heart scallop from the SCALLOP TRIM TRIO die set.  Ok, and the winner or my FAVORITE use of the dies today goes to the LEAFY SPRIGS die set.  I think it kind of looks like coffee and steam popping out of the cup, especially with the Stickles I added!

Ok, wanna know more about the sketch I used, MOJO301?  I turned it to be up and down.  What's the word?  Vertical.  Yes, that's it.  This sketch is the latest and greatest from the MOJO MONDAY sketch challenge blog, run by Julee, the brilliant creator of Verve!  Take a gander at it HERE for all the details.
