Celebrating the Color Throwdown Challenge's 5th Anniversary

Well, am I still in TEXAS?  Is it still the middle of JULY?  Pigs must be flying somewhere, because it's only 70 degrees and it's RAINING!  And, we are due for more of the same for the next few days.  Incredible!  Maybe the cracks in my yard will become so well drenched they will only resemble hairline fractures instead of earthquake size gaps!

Anyway, the rainy weather means more time for me to get crafty while the girls enjoy their day watching movies, working in their Smashbooks and playing board games.  (I cannot seem to win at Connect 4, so I gave up, much to their dismay as they apparently enjoy beating Mom.)  I made another fun VERVE card using the latest Color Throwdown Challenge #250.  They are celebrating their 5th Anniversary, so I thought I'd give it a whirl and play along in the celebration!  There are prizes and a couple of them have my name on them!

In addition to the color challenge, I used the latest Viva la Verve sketch (July Wk. 3), from Jen Shults (and if you know who she is, you know she KNOWS her sketch challenges!  LOL!).  I wanted to go WAY back with some older Verve stamps, so I took out my THANKFUL BLOSSOMS set from 2008 and went to work.  By the time I thought I was finished with my card, I decided it needed something in the upper left of the oval, so I added a butterfly using the SO FLUTTERY stamp set and the FLUTTERBY die.  Then pennants and banners were added with the PENNANT TRIM and BANNER BUNDLE dies.  This color combo was a lot of fun and so was the sketch, but I'm on the fence as to whether this is my favorite card ever.  I guess I'm just not an "oval" lover.

Ok, well it's time to move on to other crafty endeavors.  I'll be back tomorrow with something a little different that ya'll haven't seen from me in quite a while.  What could it be?  Ya'll be pondering now....

SUSIE Q-TIP:  Use different shades of the same color on your project for added interest and detail.  I used it here to help soften the look of the bright colors.
