Viva La Verve--Beautiful

Well, how's ya'll's week going?  Mine's flying by as usual--it's been a busy and productive one!  Best of all, a friend of ours gave us their old washing machine, so no more Sunday morning dates at the laundromat (yay!), even though I had to have a plumber come out to fix the water faucet for it.  I guess since they aren't messed with for long periods of time, they get cranky and decide to leak everywhere when you finally turn them off.  It was still mucho cheaper than a new appliance!  Needless to say, the pile of laundry will soon be shrinking!  Double yay!
Anyway, after I got that "sitch" under control, I was able to get in my craft room and do what I do's.  I've had this idea in my head for a while to use some sort of "frilly" stamp around the edge of something to try for a "lacy" look.  So I grabbed a few of my old and new VERVE stamp sets, pulled up the latest and greatest Viva La Verve sketch (June, Wk. 4) and got busy.

First up was the Beautiful Plain Jane for the main image.  Then I stamped a little extra sentiment piece onto the circle from the So Fluttery set and mounted it onto a Mini Classy Label die cut.  While I was at it die-cutting, I went ahead and made the heart border from the Scallop Trim Trio and the little bracket border at the top from the Flourish Trim die.  Then to figure out my "lacy" look idea--I went through a TON of my Verve sets and landed on this older one--Heart's Desire and just started randomly stamping in pink around the entire edge of the top panel right onto the patterned paper, a partial of the flourishy wreath stamp from that set, with no fear of overlapping my stamping.  I then thought to tie it all in together by stamping it again in the bottom right of the main sentiment, being careful to make it a little bit more intentional looking.  It almost looks like a bouquet of flowers coming off that little embellished corner of the oval!  SUCCESS!  I really like how it turned out!

SUSIE Q-TIP:  If you've never played in the Viva La Verve challenges, I highly recommend them.  Fabulous sketches from several of the Verve Divas, and even more fabulous inspiration from their samples!  I probably wouldn't have even glanced at this sketch, but once I saw the samples, I couldn't wait to complete my card!  HERE's our Splitcoast forum where you'll find all the info on how to play along.  A new sketch is posted there every Friday.
