Well, I recently read a blog post about what you think about your projects once you make them. Do you know immediately that it's one you love or are you often unsure of what to make of it at all? This is one of those cards that as I made it, I worked on it, stepped away from it, changed colors on it, stepped away again, did a stamped version and an unstamped version, before finally settling on this version using some fun stamps from VERVE. Um, hello, I LOVE IT and I think it may be one of my most favorite cards ever!
If ya'll can believe it, I actually used a Valentine's set from Verve called No Matter What in a very non-Valentine's-ish way (that's my new word...learn it, live it, love it), and loosely followed THIS Viva La Verve Sketch. As I was stamping the background and the colors were coming together, I fell in love with the black linework from the stamped hearts and the quirky colors that feel so 90's!
SUSIE Q-TIP: The green strip behind the ribbon was an afterthought after *I thought* my card was complete. I wasn't about to tear into this one and have to start all over just to add that green piece, so I got crafty. I cut it to the width I needed and only made it as big as I could to slip it under the ribbon to make it look like a continuous piece. Also, I normally use Scotch Quick-dry liquid glue to put my cards together for the sheer feel of sturdiness it gives my cards, but I didn't want to have any of the glue get on the other parts of the card, while trying to fanagle my jerry-rigging. So instead, I used my ATG gun to put adhesive on the back of the strips and slid them into place. Worked like a charm. Now you know my little secret.
