SFYTT #2 Mixed With a Little Anni-VERVE-sary Happiness and Hop

Well, we got back from vacation on Monday and it's taken me almost a week to get back in the groove! I've missed ya'll! Now we are all about getting the girls ready for school. We started the shopping for new school clothes yesterday. Let me tell ya--I'm in big trouble having 2 girls who have to look "just so" all at once! They are three years apart and all the school years up until now, just Lindsie (6th grader) was into her "fashion". But now Audrie (3rd grader) is getting all "shoppy" on me too! I can see myself very soon doing with them what I did with Shelbie (now 20)--"Here's the money I have to spend on clothes; you can buy more things at Target, etc. or ONE thing at Hollister, your choice." She'd choose Hollister every time, but now that she's on her own, she "gets" the value aspect of shopping!! Ha! Does anyone else do this? Anyway, it's good to be back and getting stampy again! Let's move on...

As the title of this post suggests, 2 stampy affections are colliding here. I'm combining Jen's Sketch For You To Try with a little sneak peek of a couple of new Plain Janes from Verve--those are the small, single stamps that are super affordable and oh-so-cute for many occasions. Since this is a SPOTLIGHT HOP, you should have come from Jen S.'s blog. (I'll have a full list of hoppers a little further down.) I have a lot to cover in this post, that's for sure! First, let's get the details out of the way and discuss how YOU can WIN stamp-happy goodness from VERVE:

Welcome to our Anni-VERVE-sary Spotlight Hops! As many of you know, Verve is celebrating its 5th anniversary this month and the party is just getting started! Come join us over the next 9 days as we showcase the 23 new stamps and dies releasing from Verve! We'll be counting down the minutes and revealing all the new sets in our forum from 9-11pm Eastern on Friday, August 24, so make plans now to join us for our release party!

In the meantime, we've got a fun filled hop for you today! So let your fingers do the clicking and peek into the creative minds of Verve's talented Divas and Guest Divas as they give you a little tour of what's to come! Inspiration abounds, and so do the PRIZES!

That's right! We've picked a mystery blog from today's hop and hidden a prize! So be sure to give a little shout out in the comment section as you hop around to each blog on the list. We’ll draw a random winner from all of the comments on the mystery blog to win today's featured sets and dies. Check out the Verve Blog for all the prize details and deadlines.

Want even more chances to win? Head on over to the Verve SCS forum and play along in our Anni-VERVE-sary release challenges. Or hop on over to the Verve Blog to find out about our Verve Card Carnival, for a chance to win the entire new release (a $300+ value)!

Like I said before, I have a couple of new stamps on this card that are part of the 5-year Anni-VERVE-sary release. They are both Plain Janes, Birthday to You (sentiment) and the new Scroll PJ. I love how large the Birthday to You is and the Scroll is so cool and has the matching Scroll die that I used to cut them out with. I stamped the one on vellum with the older Bountiful Backgrounds set and MY NEW FAVORITE die in forever is the new Pennant Trim Die (sideways and sponged in yellow)! You'll be seeing a LOT more of it! It's a must have!

By the way, over the last few days, I've had a TON of new subscribers. Welcome! I don't know where ya'll are coming from but I'm glad you're here. Where are ya'll coming from? (better not be a bunch of spammers--I've been getting a lot of anonymous comments of spam lately and am considering turning the spam bot detectors back on!).

Ok, so here's the MASTER HOP LIST for the Verve Spotlight Hop, just in case ya'll want to go back and check out something again, since I'm the last one on the hop. I sure hope ya'll enjoyed it!

And here's another glance at this month's Sketch For You To Try from Jen and the SFYTT sisters who have a little somethin-somethin' to share today! Don't forget to link your SFYTT creation to Jen's blog!

SUSIE Q-TIP: So the new Scroll stamp and die aren't really as big as they seem on my card. I wanted them to stick out from the sides of the main sentiment circle, so I just cut them in half and attached them to the sides of the circle on the back of it. I cheat. I hereby give ya'll permission to cheat too.

Stamps: Scroll and Birthday to You Plain Janes (Verve)
Paper: Black, Rasberry Fizz, Kraft, White (PTI), Close to Cocoa (SU!), Vellum, The Sweetest Thing (MME)
Ink: Close to Cocoa, Pink Passion (SU!), Embossing Ink (Stampendous), Mustard Distress Ink (Ranger)
Accessories: Scroll Die, Pennant Trim Die (Verve), Circle and Scallop Circle Nestabilities, Textile Embossing Folder, Sewing Machine/Thread, Corner Rounder, Sponge, Black Embossing Powder, Prima Flowers, Frosted Flatbacks, Button, Divine Twine (TCP), Jody Boosters

  25. I love the layout on this card... and the colours too! I've been known to cut panels of dp if I'm a bit short, and hide the join behind another panel - it's nice to know I'm not the only cheat, lol. I used to do the same thing with my kids (they're 31 and 27 now, and they're boys!)- give them a budget and let them choose (within reason of course!) how it got divvied up, or I would let them add some of their own money (birthday or pocket money) to my "approved" spend... I'm sure it helped them appreciate the things they bought and has helped them be good with money as adults. Donna
