TCP Tuesday 220--Greetings from Camp

Well, it's Tuesday and time for another challenge from The Cat's Pajamas. This week's TCP Tuesday Challenge (#220) comes from the dear Amy Sheffer who has created an awesome sketch! We really hope you'll play along...

We sent our middle daughter, Lindsie off to church camp (Dry Gulch in Adair, OK) yesterday for the first time in her life. Saturday night and most of Sunday were spent picking up travel items, a flashlight, mending her sleeping bag, labeling everything with my P-Touch (I'm OCD like that) and packing her stuff in the biggest suitcase we own. I had been wracking my brain trying to think of something fun to slip into her backpack to find once she was there as a little surprise (Eric had already bought her the "Happy Camper" t-shirt I was going to do this with). As I was looking through my craft armoire (one of them), I found this composition book that I had already covered with some OLD Mr. Campy paper from Cosmo Cricket a long time ago.

Since she needed a notebook to take with her, I decided this would be the PERFECT thing and that I would just use the sketch from this week's challenge to finish it off! Thank goodness I had saved my paper pack from the Mr. Campy line!

I went for the Happy Camper stamp set, colored and cut PJ out of Kraft cardstock (love that you can color that stuff), and used a few CutUps to perk up the book, like the Heart Rosette (just kept it flat), Button Flowers, the Queen of Hearts Border and Cloud Border. The sketch is being "loosely followed" at this point, but the same elements exist, just maybe not to scale--teehee.

I'm sure Lindsie's found her new notebook by now, along with the notes to wish her lots of fun that Eric and I wrote in it on the first 2 pages (her little sister, Audrie put a note in her lunch--awww!) and I hope she loved it. I totally swapped it out from the ugly green spiral she had packed. She's not due home 'til Saturday evening and from what I understand from my Twitter feed (follow me @susiestampalot), they are already having a BLAST!

Be sure and visit Alma's blog HERE to find more inspiration for this challenge and how you can play along for prizes!!

SUSIE Q-TIP: Since I knew this book would see a lot of action and also get stuffed into a backpack every day, I reinforced it as best I could (outside of Mod Podging it). I used my ATG gun to run a line of adhesive along where the ribbon lays and also double-knotted all my bows on my ribbon and twine.
