A Shiny New Blog Hop From Your Next Stamp

Well, a little news for ya'll...I've been asked to hang out with the design team for Your Next Stamp! While I won't be a full-fledged DT member (my mom is still keeping me busy with her stroke issues), I'll be playing around in a few blog hops, debuting a few new stamps here and there and most EXCITING of all, I'll be a featured writer on the Your Next Stamp BLOG for the YNS Fun Fridays! Yup, I'll be lavishing ya'll with some of my favorite SUSIE Q-TIPS and stirring up some fun about once a month over there. In fact, this Friday, the 10th, will be my first post, so be sure and stop by for what I have to share. What do ya'll want to know?

I've been a big fan of Your Next Stamp for a while now (I think Jen introduced me to their uber-cuteness?), so I was overjoyed when Karen allowed me to be involved even without being an official DT girl, due to my crazy life right now...maybe someday! I'm totally honored, truly. Anyway, enough with the mushy stuff---ya'll are here for the NEW RELEASE BLOG HOP, right? I hope you hopped over from Peggy's Blog, but if you've gotten lost or are flabbergasted that I'm in a hop today and I've blindsided you, ya'll may want to start at the beginning over on Jenny's blog.

For my card today, I've used the new set, Libby from Jamaica from the Fhiona World Kids Collection. I have to be very transparent here--this is my first time to color someone with a darker skin tone. I know--cone of shame, but you know what? I LOVED it (and realized how short I am in the earth tone/browns Copic department)! However, I do think I need her hair to be a little darker? What do ya'll think? Is there anyone out there from Jamaica? I just had to add a little hint of hemp (twine), too. Teehee. I just love her little goat friend. I'm sure not everyone in Jamaica has a goat, but it's cute nonetheless. If anything, I feel her pain if that's a stigma--everyone thinks every Texan wears boots and a cowboy hat and drives a truck. Honestly, I haven't seen a tumblin' tumbleweed in a while, people. Yeehaw!

OK, it's time to spin your spur and move along little doggies! AMY'S gonna take ya'll to another part of the world--here's a clue: Hakuna Matata!

A few things to note before you take off:

1. There's a hop prize NEW stamp set hidden somewhere along the hop, so be sure and leave comments on all the blogs for your best shot at winning. The winner will be posted February 14th over on the YNS blog.
2. The Hop Special--all the stamp sets from this hop are available now right HERE. Take an extra 15% off your entire order by using the code, YNSFEB2012. Offer good thru Feb. 15th.
3. Be sure and take in the bundle deals and the fabulous Bargain Bin, too.

SUSIE Q-TIP: I'm sure I've said this before, but even I sometimes forget. Use your Prismacolor Pencils or any old colored pencils to create shadow and highlight around your subject matter. I used a light blue here, but it can really be any color. I added grass as well with several different shades of green. I had too. The poor goat was hungry.

  3. I think you did a great job...maybe hair should be darker but some Jamaician women dye it, I'm sure. Cute little goat and no, everyone in Jamaica does not have a goat. LOL
