A Lovely Sunday with Verve

Well, I don't normally do any blog posting on Sunday, have ya'll ever noticed that? Probably not. I had planned on posting this last night. I'm only doing it today because I was just absolutely worn out yesterday after I got home from working at Scrapper's Boutique (thank you Ronda H. and Melanie S.!). I had a busy week and I think it all caught up to me last night! So today is a lovely Sunday to play catch-up before I go to Jen's My Favorite Things Party tonight (not the stamps...but as Jen says, 'Think Oprah style minus the European vacation giveaway'!). I'm so excited to see what everyone brings!

Here's what I'm bringing--gift cards made up just for me for one of my newest favorite things--the best cupcakes around! Cherie's mom, Nita (and her hardworking hubby, Larry) recently opened North Richland Hills' finest cupcake shop EVER called Sweet Treats Cupcake Boutique right next door to Scrapper's. These aren't just your run-of-the-mill cuppies--they are like NONE OTHER! In fact, I brought some banana cream pie cupcakes home for Eric the other day and he told me to forget about making him a birthday cake this year, he wanted THOSE!

So of course I had to make these cute gift card envelopes embellished with another one of my favorite things--VERVE, not to mention I cut them from the fantastically easy Gift Card Envie CutUps die from The Cat's Pajamas. I knew I could use the cupcake stamp from Verve's Birthday Bash set, and when I was looking for something else to stamp on the little Tiny Sweet Scallop Tag (which I layered), I was ecstatic to see a sentiment saying "Sweet Treats" jump right out at me from the Sweet Treats set (who'da thunk?). How perfect, right?

The gift card envies are simply folded shut and stay closed by the "belly band" that just slides right on and off. The tags are actually glued onto them at an angle and I fancied them up with some double bows from hemp twine and butterflies cut from the newest All Aflutter butterfly die (the small one) with some hot glue. I don't normally like mass-producing anything, but these I LOVED making and you wouldn't believe they only took about an hour for all of them!

Ok, now to figure out what to take for some food for the party--should have ordered some of the cupcakes to take with me! Nah, I think I'll go to the store for a little pineapple/cheese kabob action and save the calories for some Sweet Treat Cupcakes with Eric next week! He SO deserves another cuppie!

SUSIE Q-TIP: If you're like me and don't really like to mass-produce cards and projects, but need to do so occasionally, use double sided paper from the same paper line to make everything automatically coordinate. It will save you some time trying to get all matchy-matchy picking papers from your stash. That work's already done for you! However, I still had to get out of the box and use a totally unrelated paper for the butterfly from We R. At least I made them all the same and still didn't hem and haw about what butterfly would look best with what paper combo. UGH, that wears me out just thinking about it.

Stamps: Birthday Bash, Sweet Treats (Verve)
Paper: Dark Chocolate (PTI), Paper Hearts Collection (Crate Paper), Travel Light (We R Memory Keepers)
Ink: Brilliance Graphite Black (Tsukineko), Chestnut and Chestnut Roan Cat's Eyes (Colorbox), Creamy Caramel (SU!)
Accessories: Gift Card Envie CutUps Die (The Cat's Pajamas), Tiny Sweet Scallop Tag Set and All Aflutter Dies Set (Verve), Pink Brads, Hemp Twine, Plastic Baubles (Stamping Bella), Hot Glue

  1. I saw these on my iPhone and had to run to the computer so I could see them better. Wow--just beautiful! Love that they aren't all exactly the same, but are still a "set."
