MFT Blog Hop and Shop

Well, it's the first release of 2011 for My Favorite Things tonight and once again we are kicking it off with a Blog Hop and Shop. the hop started over on Kim's Blog and if you've been hopping already, you must have made your way here from Sherrie's blog. Her creations are always fabulous, wouldn't ya'll agree? So here's what I have today--a Thank You card for the World's Best Doctor using the new World's Best Doctor Pure Innocence set from My Favorite Things.

This set has a special place in my heart, not only because it's so stinkin' cute, but it's a set that I specifically requested Kim to have made. We already have the little Pure Innocence nurse, Best Medicine, so when Eric was really sick with cancer over the summer, I found that I really NEEDED a little Doctor stamp set and now here it is! I have been so tickled about it ever since I heard that my idea was becoming a reality! This card will definitely be sent along with Eric when he goes to see his oncologist, Dr. Maisel next month for a checkup because in my book, he really IS the World's Best Doctor. He helped save my sweetheart!

Ok, enough gushing, let's talk about my card--I used a lot of grays to fade into the shadow-y areas of his labcoat. I always noticed that Dr. Maisel wears a lot of brown pants (perfectly creased and never a wrinkle), so I made them a nice tan. His shoes are always brand-new looking (and surprisingly uncreased as well--how do you do that?), so I just had to make them nice and shiny looking, and left a little white on the toe. I can't wait for him to get this, even though he does have a little more hair than our friend here. (Ya'll remember I was known around the Dr.'s office and chemo infusion center as "The Marker Lady" because I always took images with me up there to color with my Copics to pass the time. Well, Dr. Maisel called them "my crayons" and now he gets to see what I do with them! LOL!)

Oh and I used the Layered Label Die-namics as a panel, too. Can you see it there, behind the doctor's feet? I think it turned out kind of cool for that, rather than always for a sentiment. Why not, right? This die has SO MANY uses! And speaking of being versatile, what about making a card with the World's Best Doctor set for your VETERINARIAN! Wouldn't a cute little doggie standing next to him be the darndest thing? Squeal! I am going to HAVE to try that!

Ok, well it's time to run along--Michele is next on the hop and I've heard she's having fun playing Peek-a-Boo!

SUSIE Q-TIP: Use other Die-namics shapes to layer into the Layered Labels Die for a new look. I used the heart on the inside of this card, but you could also try the clouds, the sun, or some flowers. Just a thought.
