A {Real Sparkle-y} Sketch For You to Try

Ok, I just have to warn ya'll: My laptop died the other day and it has my Photoshop software on it. I'm using our dinosaur computer that I think would blow up if I installed PSCS3 on it, so these pictures are the REAL deal. Unedited. All me, baby. I'll try to switch them out when I can.

Well, holy cow! I didn't realize I hadn't blogged all week! Why didn't ya'll say something? I hope you missed me. I don't know what I was doing, probably a bunch of nothin'. Nate Berkus and his new show seem to enthrall me lately and I end up cleaning something and then those Real Housewives of Atlanta come on and I get sucked into that and it makes me want to shop for something sparkly and sing really badly. I wonder what Kim did with the money (for singing lessons)? And we won't even talk about what Days of Our Lives does to me.

Speaking of sparkly, today's Sketch For You to Try from Jen is being sponsored by Sparkle Creations and if you play along, Sparkle is generously gifting a random participant some cute stamps (and I mean cuh-ute)!

Unfortunately, my stamp from Sparkle Creations is still on its way in the mail, so I'll have to play with it at a later date, sometime this week, hopefully. So since the sketch called for a tallish panel, and I still had those tallish Real Housewives on my mind (who I don't think would know the first thing about making a cake, but certainly would agree that the bigger the cake the better), I thought I'd use an a la mode stamp from My Favorite Things called Time to Celebrate. I love how fun these are to color and of course, I HAD to make it SPARKLE, in honor of our sponsor, so there are Icicle Stickles across the top of each cake layer for added BLING!!

This card is for Lindsie and Audrie who are celebrating tomorrow at a combined gymnastics birthday party for their birthdays (that are a month and a half apart, so why not, right?). Audrie turned 7 last month and Lindsie turns 10 at the end of this month! Oh happy day--I can't wait to give them their gifts! Happy Birthday, my precious angel-babies!

SUSIE Q-TIP: So a lot of times I use glue dots to attach my buttons (naked or not) when I'm too lazy to plug in the hot glue gun. I'm out of glue dots right now (somebody call 911), so I used little torn off pieces of Scor-Tape and it worked fine. In case of emergency, don't break glass...just tear off some Scor-Tape.

Here's the sketch and inspiration from the Real Housewives of SFYTT. Don't forget to play along and link your creation to the linky gadget on Jen's Blog for a chance to win some Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps!

  1. This is just totally DELISH!!! LOVE every bit of this confection!!!

  2. What a cute card! I love your work.

You had me laugh with the wondering what Kim did with her money. I LOVE to sing, but I can't carry a tune to save my life. My husband asks me that questions a lot. I can't clap my hands to a beat, either. Sad, I know.

  3. This is so fun. I love the sparkle on the cake and the patterns in your paper are so much fun. I hear you on the not posting. It's been crazy for me for a while. I need to find a better balance. I get sucked into too many other things around here.

  4. Love this Susan!! So happy and pretty! :)

  5. Sus, this is *SO* cute!! I love that cake and all the sparkle.

  6. Supah cute, Miss Susie, even without fancy photo editing! Love the little line of sparkle topping the cake. Man, I wish I had a fun name like "Sparkle", don't you? :)
