A Beachy GLUE Project

Well, a couple of weeks ago I went out and bought a new shower curtain for our younger girls' bathroom (you don't want to know why). They helped pick it out and we had to get something that "semi" went with the atrocious wallpaper that's in there that has blue and peach shells on it. (Our house was built in 1988 and I'm pretty sure it's original, just like my mauve countertops in the kitchen. We've learned to live with them and they really aren't so bad.) Sorry for the potty shot (it's a tiny bathroom), but this is a picture of the curtain we ended up with. I think it's pretty cute and as soon as all the other accessories get added, hopefully the wallpaper will not be so noticeable!
So in an effort to start the "sprucing up" process, I decided to make a little wall-hanging with this wooden Shallow Tray from Glue Art and Paper Studio. I kept waiting for the weather to get better, so I could spray paint it white,
but that never happened, so I got my brushes out and went to town painting it by hand. I had a couple of my favorite summer pictures of Audrie and Lindsie printed in black and white and then matted them on white. The 3 insets of the tray (now turned into a frame) are cardstock, measuring 2 3/4" square. The "sand" is some Kraft cardstock that I tore across the top and popped up over the pictures with
dimensionals. I used the "fun in the sun" sentiment from one of Storage Units Ink's first sets ever called Get Your Goggles On (it's still one of my very favorites). I then punched the circles and popped it up as well in the center square. I couldn't have finished it off without a trip to Michael's as I didn't have anything that was summery vacation-y for embellishments. (Can you tell we never go to the beach?
My legs stay white year round--scary!) So I picked up the cute sun and umbrella (already painted) and some fun felt flower stickers by none other than K & Company and added them along with some fun colored buttons that matched perfectly. I did have to hammer on a sawtooth hanger on the back to be able to hang it. Anyway, this was super easy to do and I hope you will check out the cool products that Glue Art and Paper Studio has to offer. Their newest storage cabinets are great for the Stampin' Up stamp sets and fit several at one time perfectly!

SUSIE Q-TIP: To paint large areas quickly, just use the dime-a-dozen foam brushes and save the detail painting (like the insides of this tray and places you don't want a lot of paint to "build-up") for your regular smaller brushes. This will save time and plus the foam brushes are much easier to clean.

Stamps: Get Your Goggles On (SUINK)
Paper: Summer Sun, Tempting Turquoise, Kraft (SU!), Rasberry Fizz, White (PTI)
Ink: Brilliance Graphite Black (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Shallow 3-Square Tray (Glue Art and Paper Studio), Circle and Scallop Circle Punches, Photos, Dimensionals, Buttons, Felt Flower Stickers (K & Company), Wooden Accents (Michael's), White Acrylic Paint, Hot Glue Gun
