I'm the Cat's Meeeeeeeeee--OWW!!

Howdy friends!! Hope ya'll's week is going well so far for ya! Getting that shopping done? I'm about halfway through, but no decor up in the house just yet. We've just been too busy, but at least it's been pulled out of the attic and is waiting peacefully in the garage to come to life! Well, you know I told you earlier in the week that I had a bunch in store for you and here's the first installment of my FUN-NESS!! I'll go ahead and let the "cat" out of the bag: I'M THE DECEMBER GUEST DESIGNER FOR THE CAT'S PAJAMAS!!! MEEEEE-OWWWW!!!! Can you believe it? I was so ecstatic when I received a quaint little email from sweet little Alma, the owner of The Cat's Pajamas asking me if I would at all consider it and how honored she would be if I would. After ran to my litterbox, so I wouldn't have an exuberation induced accident, I said YES and have been purrrring ever since!

Here's a little peek at a few of the creations I came up with for her: The first one is from Fairy Christmas and I fixed her up with a little wooden white ornament I got from Michael's for a dollar something! See those glass tiny balls on there? I used a sticky star I got from Jody and it was the perfect size to place in the middle of the star and cover with the glass balls. She's pretty sparkly in real life since I colored her wings and stars with a gold glitter pen. I then put it all together and glued the blue Michael's plastic baubles along each edge. It turned out "fairy nice"!!
Next, I have an altered wooden "hole game" toy that I picked up at Target in their Dollar Spot. (now don't ya'll all go running to get these and wipe them out---I needs some more, first.) It took a couple of four or five tries to get the back off, but I finally managed it and was able to "redo" the inside before putting it back together and adding the paper to the front. Yep, I first put it back together without the beebees inside it--oopsie! It was late (but would have made a cute Aggie joke!).

The last one here came as a surprise to me. You see the covers are made of wood (then I covered them with paper) that I had from my old tole painting days and I had planned to make two little stamped Christmas plaques and string a ribbon hanger from the ends--one for Alma and one for me to give away as a Christmas gift. The more I looked at them, the more they wanted to be the front and backs to a little "Naughty or Nice" shaker Christmas gift list book (I even came up with the idea of using those binder rings, so I can replace the pages (cut down index cards) next year.) So my "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" lifelong philosophy kicked in and I decided I wanted to make myself one of these as well, so I had to go out and find two more "fronts and backs" (couldn't find the same size, of course, so I settled on the taller ones in the back of the picture) and now, someone out there is out of a stamped Cat's Pajamas Christmas plaque from me as their gift this year. Send me some more wood and I'll reconsider.

I hope you have enjoyed this little installment of some of my Cat's Pajamas projects! I'll have more to share from my Kitty Experience next week as will Alma. I'll keep you in suspense until then with those projects! It was so hard keeping this a secret! Please head on over to Alma's blog, Dancing in Pajamas where I share even more about myself and who knows what Alma wrote!?!! ha!

I didn't include a lot of "how-to's" in this post regarding these projects, but as always, feel free to email me and I can answer questions if you have them. If I get enough questions about one issue I will do a tutorial!

SUSIE Q-TIP: When covering an area with microbeads or tiny glass balls (even glitter), pour them onto where you want them to stick on your creation over a SQUARE plastic dish. This will make it easy to get the excess beads back into their container by pouring them from the corner of the plastic dish.
