A Vervy Kind of Day

Well, today was spent shopping with Jen and Audrie at the new Michael's in Hurst. It's totally been revamped and I finally feel like I have a decent place to shop in order to find a few trendy Papercrafting necessities! Now, if only the Michael's two minutes from my house would do the same, I'd be an even happier camper! Speaking of which, my husband Eric, is a pretty happy camper right now as well. His last day with the US Small Business Administration was today (Thursday) and he starts his new job with the US District Attny's Office on Monday! He is a paralegal and will be an Officer of the Court! I'm secretly hoping he gets a shiny bright badge to flash so he can look real important! (And I can play FBI agent and put myself in the Witness Protection Plan--wouldn't that be a great escape every now and then?!)
So here are the last of my cards I made for Verve's September release. My favorite is the Some Bunny card with this fun color combo I've been wanting to try out. It was a bit difficult deciding what color to go where, but in the end, I worked it out! This second one was for Jen's "Meet the Verve Diva" Challenge #12--to use purple. I pulled out some Vintage Violet cardstock and Elegant Eggplant ink that had been severely unloved. I think it looks great with Chocolate Chip, but doesn't everything? Ya'll will be very proud of me here, too...Not one single dimensional gave its life for the sake of this card. How 'bout them apples? Don't EVER expect that to happen again!
Then this last one is just one I started playing around with, having some leftover birds and balloons from Black Tie Birdies I had already glitter embossed and cut out quite some time ago. So this card didn't take near as long as it looks! The boldness of the paper is so fun with the elegance of the birdie I think!! Come back on Saturday for Jen's sketch and I will be celebrating World Cardmaking Day with some blog candy!!

Well, tomorrow (Friday) is the big day to go talk to the surgeon about Audrie's hernia. Should I share this little story from a couple of days ago with him?:
Mommy: So Audrie, where do YOU think your lump came from?
Audrie: Remember, a long time ago when Daddy took me to eat spaghetti and meatballs?
Mommy (because Mommy's remember everything): Oh, yes, I do remember that.
Audrie: Well, my meatball went all the way down and got stuck RIGHT HERE (pointing to her lump)!!!
Mommy (trying to keep the tears of laughter from swelling up): OOOOHHHHH, well at least it tasted good, right?!!!
Audrie: Yeah.

TIP: Don't be afraid of large prints on your designer paper. Once cut down for use on a small "canvas" of a card, they are a lot less intimidating.

  2. I love all your cards -- but the violet and chocolate one is just gorgeous! You're right -- everything is good with Chocolate Chip! :)

I hope all goes well with the doctor -- I'll be thinking of you both!

  3. Lucky! You ought to see the Michael's here in Mansfield. Yeesh. I so desperately wish we had a new shop like Recollections here.

  4. I will have to check out this new Michael's! Sounds neat! Super cute cards!
Congrats to your husband on his new job!

  5. Just beautiful, Susan. Love all three cards. The purple silhouette one is just yummy.
