The Pilgrimage

Ever since I got this cute little pilgrim set from Storage Units Ink and More called Bountiful Harvest, I knew I wanted to make a little scene with the "Mayflower" in the background. So this is what I came up with! I colored it with my Copics and Prismacolor markers (yes, you can use them together) after I masked the little pilgrim and stamped the ship behind him. The ocean and land were drawn in by me and defined with a fine-tip black pen. Not a lot of bells and whistles to this card--just trying to keep it simple and clean looking. I guess he's off to hunt up some turkey grub. I guess I'm off to hunt up some breakfast grub. Where's my Special K? It's made with maize.

My mom has started a blog!! It's got a cute name---"Hugs Included" and she is waiting on a blog makeover from my sister, Sara of Sara's Tweaks and Designs, but since she just got a home computer for her birthday last month, she just couldn't wait to get started blogging! Please stop by her blog and say hello--It truly will make her day!!!

Several of you have asked what happened about Audrie's hernias (the surgeon found another one that I didn't see). Thanks for following up with me--ya'll are so sweet. She is scheduled to have surgery this Friday, the 17th. That is also her 5th birthday, so she is expecting to have extra special treatment! Ha!! Please keep her in your prayers and send good wishes her way. As the day approaches, she is having more questions about it and is getting a little nervous (not to mention me!!). Thanks and I'll keep you posted. My posts here may be off a bit as I deal with her recovery afterward as well.

TIP: I may have used this one before, but it's worth mentioning again. When making a mask from a stamp, use a post-it note, making sure some of the sticky is part of it when you cut it out. That way, no temporary adhesive is necessary when overlaying it on the image. Don't forget to save it with your stamp set to use over and over again.

Stamps: Bountiful Harvest (Storage Units, Ink and More)
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Riding Hood Red (SU!), Papertrey White, Aqua (Core'dinations), Boho Chic (Making Memories), other DP (unknown)
Ink: Palette Noir (Superior), Cranberry Crisp (SU!)
Accessories: CM Circle Punches, Scallop Circle Punch, Horizontal Slot Punch, Copic/Prismacolor Markers, CM Black Fine-tip Pen, Copper Brad (Joanns), River Rock Double Stitched Ribbon (SU!), Dimensionals

  1. Love this Susie-- your hand drawn "sea" is just perfect! Great masking too!

  2. Susan,
very cute card. I'll hop on over and check out your mom's blog in a bit, I just wanted to offer some encouragement and empathy to you and your daughter. I too am scheduled for surgery early next week for gall stones. I know it is a relatively simple procedure, but I am still a bit aprehensive. I'll keep you both in my prayers on Friday and throughout the weekend. I'm sure she wouldn't mind some cool soothing ice cream to help her recover. ;p

  3. What a cute card! I love the colours :)

  4. OMGoodness...CUTE CUTE CUTE CUTE CUTE and CUTE!!!! That's for the last FEW cards!!!!!

  5. I love your card. Its so cute. Love the little thanksgiving scene you created. Great LO, papers, colors, and embellies. too. Love the clean look of it.

  6. Love this card!! The houndstooth background is perfect!

I'll be praying for a successful surgery and a great birthday for your little one!!! Hang in there, Mom! Hugs!
