Hi everybody! Here we are…Saturday again! Wow, this week sure went by fast! I was a busy girl, craft-wise—
Featured Stamper last Sunday,
Verve Diva of the Week (it's not too late to play!),
Julee’s birthday festivities (all
Verve Stamps are 10% off!),
mine and
Jen’s GLUE project challenge, and the
Dare to Get Dirty ’08 challenges going on all week! WHOA!! WAIT a minute! I forgot to play in the Dare to Get Dirty!! AAAACCKK!! So last night, when I was working on this card for this week’s edition of
Jen’s Sketch For You To Try, I decided to take a quick peek at the challenges and see if I could combine at least one of them with
Jen’s sketch. So I chose to get away from “cutesy” (don’t worry, it will be back), and go for
Sharon’s Stamp Simply Challenge and
Lauren’s Monochromatic Challenge. So three in one, baby! What do you think? I did break out the embossing powder on this, versamarking and embossing the swirly and butterflies, and as I do like it, I WILL be making a trip to Michael’s today for some different iridescent powder that’s not so rainbow-ey (I think mine’s called Kaleidoscope, but I want it to be a little more glittery and not so much colored). What do ya’ll have? Again, I cottonballed (Susan’s “special” sponging method) most of the edges, and distressed the main panel. Other than the fact that it’s mostly pink, even my husband, Eric, looked at this card again this morning and said he really liked this one. I tried to give it to him and told him I had “kind thoughts” for him, but he wouldn’t take it. You see, I have to be nice to him today, since he is making good on his Mother’s Day present he got me tomorrow night (Sunday). We are off to see
Cheap Trick, Heart and Journey (now say it in your best “rocker” voice and hold up the rocker’s devil horns with your fingers and you can “almost” be there with me! Can you tell I'm a child of the 80's?). Wish us luck that we are able to avoid any sort of mosh pit or that my hair doesn’t catch on fire by someone’s lighter they are swaying with to the music.
Oh, and a little added bonus about
today’s sketch: it’s being featured on
The Sisterhood of Scrap blog, so be sure and check it out along with my other groupies—
Carole,
Amy S., and
Amy R.. It's also
Jessie's last week with us as Guest Designer, so be sure and tell her to "rock on". (
Shannan may not get to play today, so just think of a Journey song, and it will be “almost” like reading a fun title to one of her blog posts.)
TIP: Like
Lauren said in the challenge post over on SCS, a monochromatic color scheme is a fail-proof color combo when you’re at a loss to come up with one.
