A {Wishful} Sketch For You To Try

It's Saturday and the livin' is easy!! We are off to my sisters' (they're twins, Sara and Nancy) birthday party today. A little grillin' and gabbin' will be the flavor of the day. I'm even going to make a new "salad" (don't know if it can really be classified as that) that I found over at Sue's Stamping Stuff called Snickers Salad--it's a salad with candy bars in it. How bad could it be? I'll make an old standby of something else, too, just in case it's yucky! Baked beans? Potato salad? Who knows. So in honor of "birthdays" today, I made this (can I just say) ADORABLE Elzybell card for this week's edition of Jen's A Sketch For You To Try. I colored her with my Prismacolor pencils and mineral spirits, and stitched around a couple of the edges. The patterned paper is new from a K & Company paper pad called Berry Sweet (I'm in love with that ENTIRE line of stuff here lately, can you tell?). The sentiment is from Verve Visual's Wonderful Wishes sentiment set. I sure WISH you would check out Amy's and Carole's blogs for some more eye candy using this sketch. Shannan has been out of town and may not be able to play this weekend, but I'm sure she'll be singing along again soon! I also WISH you would try this sketch--it's an easy one and easily duplicatable! Use SFYTT as your keyword on SCS so we can see what you come up with!

TIP: Use craft tweezers to pick up and "set" baubles, rhinestones or anything else that's really small. Provo Craft makes a nice big pair of them. Use the opposite end to push them down into the glue.

Stamps: Girl & Frog Elzybell, Wonderful Wishes (Verve Visual)
Paper: Barely Banana (SU!), Bazzill Pink, Papertrey White, Berry Sweet (K & Company)
Ink: Palette Noir (Superior)
Accessories: Prismacolor Pencils, Odorless Mineral Spirits, Scallop Circle Punch, Paper Frills (Doodlebug Designs), CM Circle Punch, 1 3/8" Circle Punch, Sewing Machine, White Thread, Bella Frosted Flatback Baubles, Ribbon, Glue Dot, Dimensionals

  1. Give a hug to your sister Sara for me! If you want to try another new recipe, I will vouch for it's fabulous-ness. I found it in one of the most recent Rachel Ray magazines...http://www.rachaelraymag.com/recipes/salad-vegetable-recipes/loaded-baked-potato-salad/article.html

It's called Loaded Baked Potato Salad and there was not ONE stitch of it left in the bowl when I made it a few weeks ago. No mayo to worry about spoiling if you keep it outside for a little while. And so different! Give it a try. I've had the Snicker Salad and it's fab too, you're right....you just can't go wrong with something that has SNICKERS in it!

Have a fun day with your sis's!!!

    Hugs,
    Amy

  11. Love your card, Susan! The colors are wonderful!

I have to tell you a funny story! My very best friend is named Sue and she was the first person to introduce me to snicker salad. Well when I read your post about Sue and snicker salad, I got upset, thinking my best friend had a blog and didn't tell me. Turns out, it's another Sue. What are the odds of that?

    Stampin hugs, Becky:)
