A {Cupcake} Sketch For You To Try

Happy Saturday and Memorial Day Weekend! How's it going so far? Kids out of school yet? Mine get out June 3rd, and they are counting down the days! It's starting to get hot here in North Texas as well. The high today is supposed to be 96 degrees. When you get to add that it's really humid (or "human", as my little girls call it), it just is drainingly HOT! Thank goodness for air conditioning! So are ya'll ready for a little challenge? Jen has thrown out some pretty easy, fairly simple designs for her last few Sketch For You To Try's. Now it's time to get down and dirty with her latest one for this weekend. I won't say it's "hard", it's just a "thinker" type of sketch! I think once you figure out the three "things" you are going to go for on the side there, it will come together just fine. I had to make mine a long card to accomodate the cupcakes, so feel free to do the same. There is actually no stamping on my card today (what's up with that?). I used a little 8x8 scrapbooking kit I picked up at Michael's a few weeks ago and was deadset on using the little popped up sparkly cupcake stickers for my trio of embellishments. The "Celebrate" and striped designer paper is also from the kit. I don't usually even buy those, but just look at it!! It was so cute, I just couldn't pass it up! I hope you decide to play with this sketch today and if you do, be sure and use keyword SFYTT on SCS so we can see what you did! Spark your creativity even more by checking out all the other sketch girls---Carole, Amy and Shannan.

Are ya'll watching So You Think You Can Dance? It's so fun and incredibly amazing how some of those "pop-lock" dancers make their bodies move!! Unreal! Have a safe weekend!

Cute Kid Story: My 1st grader, Lindsie was saying the other night over dinner that I was such a good "cooker" and went on to say how much she loves to eat meat (ok? where is this going, I think). She proudly proclaimed that she was an "Eat Meater" (as opposed to meat eaters that they were learning about at school!). It was one of those things I didn't even correct her on, as I love it and want her to say it over and over again. I died laughing (on the inside because she was totally serious!!)!!!

TIP: When using dimensionals, an easy way to get the paper backing to lift up, is to push on the center of it with your nails before trying to peel it off. Crazy, but it works nine times out of ten.

  1. Oh my gosh this is soooo adorable!!! I absolutely love it, it's so yummy! I sure wish some of your amazing stamping mojo could rub off on me, you've really been on a roll lately!!

  2. You did a great job with this sketch! I really like the way you stretched the card out -- I think it helps (at least I'm having trouble picturing this sketch the size it was made). The cupcakes, the Swiss Dots, the fun colors -- it's SO cute (even if there's no stamping -lol)! tfs
