Love Bird

Here is our latest layout "challenge" from smARTworks. The challenge was not much of a challenge. All we had to do was make a Valentine's Card. Easy!! I used one of their fun bird stamps from the set, "Tweet" (pg. 125 of the online catalog). I wanted to go with a simple theme and try out a new idea I saw over on Kim Hughes' blog, Paper Hugs. She had done a card or two with a circle pierced close to the focal image, so I thought, why not a heart with the bird "in front" of it (just couldn't bring myself to poke holes in his little body!). I don't have a spiral punch, so I used her trick as well to punch holes along the side of your paper and then just cut through them with scissors and made my own, torn-out-of-a-spiral-notebook look!! Keeping it short today, as we have a lot to do. I got a new external hard-drive for the computer and a new-to-us laser printer and we need to get busy working on that whole process of installing those things, and you know, being Eric and I doing it, something will of course go wrong!! ugh!!! Be sure and check out the other Design Team's Valentine cards by going HERE and linking to each blog!!!

TIP: Make your own spiral punched edge by punching holes along the side of your paper with a 1/8" punch and then just cut through them with scissors.

Stamps: Tweet (smARTworks)
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Ruby Red
Paper: Soft Sky, Chocolate Chip, Ruby Red, Whisper White, DP by K & Company
Other: Vellum Circle Metal Rimmed Tag, Brad, 1/8" Hole Punch, Paper Piercer and Mat Pack, Heart Punch, Dimensionals

  1. Great card Susan! I love the paper piercing (I'm obsessed with it!) and the idea for the 'torn out' paper is great! I am going to try it out!
