El Cheapo Valentine Cuties

I love making Valentine's stuff!! They rank right up there with Christmas and Halloween goodies. So when I realized I was out of Real Red cardstock (gasp-argh!!!) at the beginning of February, I knew I was in trouble (a quick emergency call to my mom, the demo, speedily solved that problem, though, and I have some more now, so all is right with the world again!)!! However, when these cuties were made, I was OUT OUT OUT!! Not even a big enough scrap to scrape!! Do you know how hard it is to make Valentine's goods without any solid red? Luckily, I had some other ideas! The teeny tiny boxes were cut using my Cricut maching and the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More cartridge. As you can tell from the size of the M&M's, they are quite smallish! The larger one was cut at size 5, and the small one was cut at size 3 1/2, making it only about 1 inch square!!! I was beside myself giddy about them and their "petiteness". (They were also perfect for my friend, Jen, as a joke stemming from a miniature nut cup she had made by mistake with her Cricut. It literally could hold ONE jelly bean!!--hilarious!) Don't be fooled--the top of the small one was colored with a Prismacolor marker (no red paper). The other bag is a cardboard white wedding treat box from a package of 12 (yes, 12!) that I picked up from the Dollar Tree (yes, $1!) last year. I am pretty sure they still have them. I just covered it with paper from the Target Dollar spot, added a little ribbon, a flower and tag!
Well, I stayed up entirely too late last night at the My Favorite Things release party (I bought ALL the new ones with a little birthday money--yay!) and just finished creating some things for the Guest Designer contest. See them in my SCS gallery HERE and HERE. I think there are some better things already submitted in the contest, but it was worth a try anyway!
To all my friends going to CHA (without me), I pray for safe travels for you, and just have a great time (without me), but be sure and bring me back some "souvenirs" from the show!!!

Enabler Alert!: I just noticed on Verve Visual's website, they are having a sale! All stamp sets are 15% off February 1-29! Hurry, Hurry!!
