A {Cupcake} Sketch For You To Try

Jen's Sketch For You To Try is a fun one this week! I don't think I've ever done a card like it before, with 4 main small panels. When I was planning it in my head, I called her and begged to see if I could use 4 circles or 4 squares--I didn't think I could "hang" with the 2 different shapes (I'm kind of symmetrical like that). She said,'no, that's the challenge part of the deal', so I stuck with my plan and came up with this cutie, and I'm so glad I did! A perfect example of stepping out of your comfort zone by doing sketches and challenges, making you a better stamper/designer! So now, I will definitely keep this sketch and use it again in the near future! Enabler alert: See the flower in the middle? They are from Michael's! I saw them the other day, there at the store, but I didn't have my coupon with me. Then Lauren Meader featured them on her blog HERE, and I printed out my coupon (this one expires today! yes, apparently they are testing this concept), and ran to Michael's yesterday and got the last bucket they had! Seriously, there has got to be 200 paper flowers in the cute smallish clear plastic paint can for only 4.99 regular price!! They come in this pretty shimmery white or off white and I just colored it with an SU marker to match and it worked quite well! Run, NOW before they are all gone to Michael's! Along with Carole, Shannan and I, Amy Sheffer of Pickled Paper Designs will now be another brilliant source of inspiration for these Saturday Sketches every weekend. YAY!!!

TIP: Let your ribbon hang off the edge of your card, especially if it's a smaller size because it has extra wiggle room in the envelope. (Use a standard size envelope for square cards to save on postage.)

BONUS TIP: If you have girls, steal the loose glitter from all their Barbie/Bratz/Polly Pocket/Hello Kitty toys and use it on your cards.

BIG SPRING FEVER SALE at smARTworks: All in stock stamps (which is most of them) are on sale for 35% off!! The prices are already rock-bottom, so you won't want to miss this sale!!
