A {Chicky} Sketch For You To Try

YAY!! It's Saturday!! Rainy, wet and cold here in Fort Worth (for those of you interested in the weather report!), and it rained HARD last night--like in sheets and buckets, mixed with a little hail! So much so, I was getting a leeeeeetle bit worried about our back yard and possible flooding of our house again. BUT, I prayed a little prayer and, I kid you not, the rain let up immediately after that, and I worried no more. Another answer to prayer---Eric got a new job and will start on Monday! After being laid off 2 weeks before Christmas, this is great news for our family and we can't wait to have a normal routine again! Thanks for all of you who encouraged us through this yucky time!! I guess yesterday was a good day--I also won a prize package from Queen and Company of some new Felt Products they just introduced at CHA!! Can't wait to get that and you will see some fun stuff made with it, I'm sure!! So for today, since it's Saturday, here is Jen's A Sketch For You To Try! I used one of the new sets from Gina K. (who I got to talk to on the phone last week--totally made my day!). In fact, I won this set, too from a little contest she had going! (lucky me!) It's Melanie Muenchinger's "Just So Hoppy". I love this little chick and was the reason I picked this set to get as my prize, so I knew it would be perfect for this here sketch! It was a no brainer to use the little Easter scrap of paper, so I cut a piece strategically with the chick and the fun little {Chicky} word that kind of acts as the sentiment. I have to be honest here--I was trying to make this a Thank You card and stamped a little tiny "thank you" up in the left corner next to the chick on the green. Looked aweful, so I had to make a slight change to the sketch and raise that panel up a bit by adding the white scallop, then the pink strip and then the pink strip at the bottom to balance the color at the top! I like how it turned out and sometimes the best cards are the ones you make the most mistakes on!! Be sure and use SFYTT in your keywords when you post your card on SCS--yes, go make one and see how fabulous it turns out! It's a sure to be greatness sketch!! Here are Shannan and Carole's samples as well. Have a creative day!!

ETA: Picture this card to look a shade lighter than it is here. For some reason, light purples always show wonky on the computer to me. The ribbon really matches the paper, promise, and the brad is pearly like those snaps on a western shirt!!

TIP: Really look at your patterned paper and find the area that best suits your design. Don't be afraid to cut into it and use that portion, even if it means cutting it out of the middle.

Stamps: Just So Hoppy (Gina K.)
Ink: Stazon Timber Brown
Paper: Certainly Celery, Regal Rose, Lavender Lace, GP White, Easter DP from Doodlebug Designs, Green Plaid DP from the Nursery Girl Collection of DCWV
Other: Lilac Grosgrain Ribbon (Doodliedoo), Prismacolor and Copic Markers, Paper Piercer and Mat Pack, Large Scallop Scissors, MM (Noteworthy) flower, Pearl Brad (S.E.I.), Dimensionals
