A {Peaceful} Sketch For You To Try

Today is Saturday and that means it's time for Jen's "A Sketch For You To Try"! I made this as actually my first sympathy card ever. My friend, Bev passed away peacefully from a rare form of breast cancer on Wednesday, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family. Her favorite movie was "It's a Wonderful Life", which she had the opportunity to watch several times this season. Of course the most famous line from this movie is, "Every time a bell rings, an angel gets their wings". That afternoon Beverly left this world, a few moments later the mantle clock chimed - she got her wings. I would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers for her. Please continue to pray for her family. The funeral is today at 3, not too far from here.

The card features a {peaceful} color I don't think I have ever used before, but it is growing on me! Sage Shadow goes great with black and white (did you know?). I had this beautiful printed paper in my stash and it went perfectly with the Sage Shadow from SU. The wreath is from smARTworks and is from a set that is meant for Christmas, but I thought it conveyed a somber feel when heat embossed (I think I am in love!) with white onto the black. The sentiment is also from smARTworks and is from the very first stamp set I got from them when I was trying out for their design team (which I am now on, and their stamps ROCK!). Other than that, it's pretty straightforward cardmaking/stamping today, nothing fancy. Trek on over to Shannan's and Carole's blogs to see their creations today, too!

On a happier note, somehow I came across these websites last week and it's pretty funny! For cat lovers and for dog lovers. Don't ask me how I found them, I couldn't tell you!

TIP: Don't forget to rub your cardstock you are about to emboss on with a Bounce sheet (mine was used to make it softer), and the extra powder will slide right off back into your container.

Stamps: Wreath, Remembering (both from smARTworks)
Ink: Palette Noir, Palette Glue Pad
Paper: Sage Shadow, Basic Black, Whisper White, DP (the Paper Studio)
Other: White Detail Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Black Brads, Mat Pack and Paper Piercer, SU Double Circle Punch, White Wide Organdy Ribbon, Stampamajig, Dimensionals
