How's That Workin' For Ya?

Well, last Saturday, when Jen and I trekked over to Mesquite for the StampScrapArtTour (if it's coming to a town near you, I highly recommend it!), I HAD to have this sentiment stamp from the Rubber Cottage! It's so ME!!! (No, Dr. Phil is not the only one that says this!) I say it a little too often and some of my friends do too, so I knew this would be a fun one to play with. When I sat down to stamp with it, the little cricket from Bugs and Kisses "jumped" out at me and this simple little card was born. I love how his buggly eye goes well with the Basic Grey Phoebe paper. It's kind of plain and straightforward stamping! I love what my friend, Sheila said about the stamp after I sent her an email saying she is welcome to borrow the stamp anytime to make a card to send to that "special someone"--'I can think of a lot of people to send it to but not any I want to spend time making a card for!' I LOVE IT!! Don't we wish we could say exactly what we feel sometimes? It's called tact (i.e., biting our tongues), girlfriends--you gotta use it most of the time, unfortunately or it will get you in trouble, right?!! (Psalm 19:14) But then again, sometimes that conviction is necessary if given in a loving way. wink!! Anyway, since we got back (after taking the scenic route around North Dallas, not on purpose), I have been a craft queen! I have so many things to show you from even before this burst of creativity happened that I am thinking about doubling up on a few posts or I will forever be soooo behind! Would that bother ya'll? Oh, yeah, I still have Christmas stuff and RAK's and and and and.....see?
OH and I can't wait to show you my sketch sample for Jen's Saturday sketch. I just finished it tonight...OH MY WORD, it's cuteness! Stay tuned!! Btw, have ya'll been following her on her blog all week? She's been doing an "Anything But a Card Extravaganza"! (I've been following in her footsteps, but once again--so far behind on showing you stuff...should I go in order?) Go check out!! Here's some pics from our fun time this past weekend:
Here's Karen (kikikaren), Jen (genie1314), and Me! Afterward, since we didn't want to eat the nasty nachos there at the "food court", we all decided to go to lunch to Taco Bueno. We had nachos.
Here's Jen, Me, Gretchen (a friend of Paula's) and Paula Bloom (prbloom). It was so fun meeting both of them! Below is a picture of me and Vicki, one of the owners of Glue Art and Paper Studio (who I design for). They are local and in the metroplex, so it was a gift to be able to go and introduce myself in person! I loved loved loved meeting her and Kelli (and Kris, another DT member--waving!), and I can't wait to show you what's in store from them. I picked up a lot of cool alterables and fun ideas!!! I wish them the best of luck at CHA!!

TIP: Sometimes the stamps and sentiments you are using call for just a simple layout without a bunch of embellishments. Don't forget--that in itself can make a bold "statement" on a card. Try it!

Stamps: Bugs and Kisses, Sentiment from Rubber Cottage
Ink: Wild Wasabi, Palette Noir
Paper: Groovy Guava, GP White, DP by Basic Gray (Phoebe)

  3. So glad you had a great time...and didn't get too lost taking the scenic route home.

btw, I really enjoy your "Tips".
