A {Flaky} Sketch For You To Try!

Here in North Texas today, it's raining, cold and miserable. NOT Christmas weather at ALL! I have tons of shopping still left to do and I am having to force myself out in that yucky weather! I would much rather be home, putting a Christmas tree up and decorating my house that only has 3/4's of a floor. You see, we are finally getting the last of the repairs made to our house from the flooding we had in June, new laminate flooring in the majority of the house, being the main thing. We debated and debated about having it done now or just waiting until after the holidays, but we were able to have it shipped in and our contractor do it just in time so that I wouldn't have to be decorating the day before Christmas. Well, to make a long story short, Glen and his son Cody came over yesterday and worked all day, to only find out we are lacking about 60 sq. feet of laminate. UGH!!!! So we went and ordered it last night and it's not due to come in until guess when? DEC. 26th!!! NOOOOOOOO!!!!!! I guess we would have run out of flooring material either way even if we had waited until after the New Year, but I had grand visions of this wonderful "preparing" for Christmas weekend today and tomorrow. Oh well. So I am off to Hobby Lobby to buy a teeny fake Christmas tree, rather than using our ginormous absolutely beautiful fake tree, just in case we have to move it around on the off chance the flooring comes in early. I am going to try and finish my shopping today instead as well, since we are getting into "crunch" time. Then the happy part of the day will be tonight when I get to go stamp and create some things I need to make anyway with my friends, Jen and Shannan! So here for your viewing pleasure while I'm gone is my sample card for Jen's A Sketch For You To Try! I have had the idea of doing a chipboard snowflake up like this with this Twinklets Diamond Dust for a LONG time, so I finally did it! Be careful, though and don't let the kids play with it as it is crushed glass. I flaked out on the stamping end of this card--there is NONE!! How did that happen? I really like the end result. I wanted something kind of simple and plain looking, but bold at the same time. I know this is following the sketch a little loosely as far as the 3 embellishments down the side, but it's what I had in my head and I just went with it! Check out Shannan's and Carole's samples as well and remember to upload yours to Splitcoast using keyword, SFYTT. I hope you likey and wish me luck out there in the nasty weather today, hustling and bustling!!

  4. Wow,Susan! Your card is just fabulous ... and I honestly hadn't realized it has no stamping until I read your words! haha Love the dimension of the snowflake & special glitz! I'm betting that a few years down the road, you'll be able to smile or even giggle about this year's Christmas flooring! I still remember getting a fun, size-down tree right before moving one year. Merry Christmas!
