A Sketch For You To Try

Hola!! I'm sorry this is a bit late. We had a little bad news hit us yesterday (Eric got laid off due to budget cuts yesterday and his last day on the job will be December 8th--yucky timing--but that's the government for ya!), so we are kind of out of sorts over here. It really did me some good to sit down and stamp today, so here is a very simple version of Jen's A Sketch For You To Try! It's kind of a "scrappy" card and uses some fun embellishments that I had never tried to use before. The swirlies are a self-adhesive from Queen & Co. and they are felt--so yummy! The holly leaves are a clear little piece from Making Memories' new collection of Christmas stuff. (I just read the packaging and it says they are self-adhesive, too, but I guess I can't figure that out because they don't seem to have a peel off backing!?!? Maybe you lick 'em?) I think the scallop circle is a little big, but all my other options were too small. I NEED the next size down from a Giga Scallop Circle, badly! Anyway, we are off to a party tonight out in Weatherford at a friend's house who was actually the Best Man in our wedding and we haven't seen them in YEARS!! It will be fun to get out and play!

Stamps: Papertrey Holiday Treats, Polka Dot BG from SU!
Ink: Craft White, Palette Noir
Paper: Real Red, Kraft, Georgia Pacific White
Other: MM Clears Tags and Shapes (deck the halls), Queen & Co. Felt Fusion, Red Brads, Scallop Circle Punch, Dimensionals

  4. {{{{Susan}}}} So, so sorry to hear about Eric's layoff. That stinks. Where one door closes, another opens -- hope it opens soon and that it's even better than the one before. You're in my thoughts, my friend.

Cute card, too -- glad you have this fun form of therapy. It helps, doesn't it? : )

  8. I love the swirlies and stuff on the card! I just don't think a "lick 'n stick" would go over well in the stamping market...but who knows? Go ahead and try it.

Sorry to hear about Eric's job. Make sure he applies for those UI benefits. That's what they're for.
Isn't it good God's in control. (:) big hug

  12. So sorry to hear about your husband's job! We were in your shoes 4 years ago. That's what brought us to Texas. I would have to say it was a blessing in disguise. So glad that God knows what he's doing. If I had to do it myself, I would for sure mess it up. I will keep y'all in my prayers.

I love the card! Love all the different textures. Just beautiful!
